What is pH?
pH is the measure of acidity or alkalinity of water. A pH reading of 7.0 is neutral, a pH higher than 7.0 is alkaline, and a pH lower than 7.0 is acidic. Pond fish and plants are accustomed to the natural pH fluctuations that occur in all ponds. However, extreme pH levels must be avoided. A pH range between 6.8 and 7.8 is acceptable. 7.0 is ideal. Acid rain, mineral leaching, soil run-off , decomposing plant and animal waste can contribute to unacceptable pH levels in the pond. Some tap water used to fill the pond can cause extreme pH levels.
Use Pond Care pH UP to raise pH in garden ponds. pH UP works slowly neutralizing some of the acidic substances that cause low pH in pond water.
Use Pond Care pH DOWN to lower pH in garden ponds. pH DOWN works slowly neutralizing some of the alkaline substances that cause high pH in pond water.
